Store Locator Image Over Map

The Experience Add On for WordPress and Professional or higher level of service for MySLP has a feature that will display a starting image, your company logo or a static map image for example, until a user enters and address and performs a location search.

This feature was not working correctly on most of the styles in our Style Gallery.     Earlier today the Style Gallery was updated to properly manage the CSS that works with this feature.

To re-download the style go to Store Locator Plus (Advanced Options for MySLP users) | Settings | View and select a different style than you are using now.  Then re-select the style you are using to force a download of the latest settings and CSS styles.

Note: if you have modified ANY of the layout settings you will want to save those changes by copying them to a separate application such as a code editor or local text editor first so you can re-apply the changes if you re-download the style from our Style Gallery server.

Custom Map Markers

Our latest how-to video for Store Locator Plus® is online. In the latest How-To video we show you how to set your custom map markers based on types of locations.    This is done using the categorization tool available in the Power Add On for WordPress or the Professional and Enterprise plans for Store Locator Plus® SaaS Edition.

Custom Map Markers

The default map marker design with Store Locator Plus® is to set your map markers to be identical for all locations.

These markers can be customized so they are specific to each location. Or a select few locations can have their own marker while the rest use the standard marker. There is also an option to set the map marker based on the type of location, for example those in the “Service” category use a read marker and the “Sales” category use a yellow marker.

You can find also find help on adding and editing location categories in our documentation.

Interactive Map

Attending a conference almost always means travel.   Love it or hate it, the travel experience goes with the territory.  As a conference director, one of the best ways to increase the satisfaction level of conference attendees is to provide not only killer content but to also make them feel as though they are a welcomed guest in the host city.    An interactive map is a great way to make them feel at home.

Providing resources that help get people acquainted with the host city as quickly as possible is one way to make travel more of a perk than a pain for the attendee.    Do a good job playing host in your city and people will want to return year-after-year.

A great way to do this is by providing a resource directory that includes more than a map showing people where the venue is and how to get there.    In our “Hosting Conferences and Events” series we are going to walk through various ways you can build a great online resource that shows people around your city without making it a full time job for you or your online content authors.    The primary tool we are going to use is the Store Locator Plus® SaaS service.    By using the service effectively you can keep costs down while providing easy-to-use interactive maps for your attendees.
